Hello - I'm looking to see if anyone has a consistent workforce planning process in place for their production/maintenance workforce? My company is interested to do benchmarking on this topic, particularly on what companies find does/doesn't work when looking to use a consistent process across multiple manufacturing locations. Thanks!

Hi Amy! We're looking into this now with our Manufacturing & Engineering function, as part of a larger strategic workforce planning effort. Are you looking at more of an annual time horizon, or a longer-term 3-5 year planning effort? Our work is in process so may not have details on some things yet but happy to stay connected.

Hi Amy,

Our customer service group has a formal workforce planning process that is completed jointly with HR and Finance.  Both groups work together, using forecasted member numbers to project workforce need and drive CSR hiring. This works well if both forecasts are accurate. If the forecast for number of members is wrong, then workforce planning fails. If the forecast for how many CSRs will be needed to address volume is inaccurate, that is a failure point as well.

Thanks,
